🕯【篤姫館オリジナル和蝋燭】十文字家紋と四季の花を描いて──感謝の灯り　

 

こんにちは、らっそくやのicoです。

今回は少し前のお話ですが、鹿児島で期間限定オープンしていた**「篤姫館」**の閉館に際し、

スタッフの皆さんへの感謝の気持ちを込めてお作りしたオリジナル和蝋燭のご紹介です。

この和蝋燭には、篤姫にゆかりのある十文字の家紋（じゅうもんじのかもん）と、

春夏秋冬を彩る四季折々の花々、そして「篤姫館」の文字を手描きで添えました。

 

🔶 十文字家紋とは？

 

十文字家紋は、シンプルながらも格式ある意匠で、十字の形を基本とした日本の伝統的な家紋です。

篤姫の実家である**今和泉家（島津家分家）**でも用いられ、品格と由緒を感じさせます。

限られた期間の運営にもかかわらず、情熱を持って駆け抜けたスタッフの皆さまへの敬意を、

一本一本の和蝋燭に込めて、静かな感謝の灯りを贈りました。

このように、和蝋燭は想いを形にできる贈り物。

🕯【Atsuhime Hall Original Candles】Honoring Dedication with Family Crests and Seasonal Blooms

Let me share a heartfelt story from several years ago:

When the Atsuhime Hall, a limited-time cultural exhibit in Kagoshima, was closing its doors,

I was honored to create a set of original Japanese candles as a token of appreciation for the staff.

Each hand-painted candle featured the Jumonji (十文字) family crest,

beautiful seasonal flowers, and the words “篤姫館 (Atsuhime Hall)” in calligraphy.

 

🔶 What is the Jumonji Family Crest?

 

The Jumonji kamon is a simple yet dignified cross-shaped crest historically associated with nobility.

It was used by the Imaizumi family, a branch of the Shimazu clan, to which Atsuhime (Princess Atsu) belonged.

Though the exhibit was temporary, the staff worked with dedication and passion.

These candles were meant to honor that devotion,

offering a gentle flame filled with gratitude and respect.

「篤姫館（あつひめかん）」は、2008年に放送されたNHK大河ドラマ『篤姫』の人気を受けて、

鹿児島県指宿市（いぶすきし）と鹿児島市ドルフィンポート内に期間限定で設置された観光施設です。

この館は、篤姫の生誕地である今和泉の歴史や文化を紹介するとともに、

彼女の波乱に満ちた人生や人柄を紹介する体験型の展示・映像施設でした。

展示では篤姫のゆかりの品々や衣装、ドラマの撮影風景、指宿地域の歴史や島津家の系譜なども紹介されました。

ドラマの撮影で実際に使用された衣装や小道具、島津家や篤姫の歴史などが展示され期間中たくさんの人が訪れました。

特に人気だったのが、劇中で使用された本格的な着物を着て記念撮影ができるコーナー。篤姫気分になれると、多くの来場者でにぎわいを見せていました。

俳優陣も鹿児島を訪れ、地域全体が篤姫一色になり、地元の人々や全国からの観光客に愛されました。

 

💠 篤姫とは？

 

篤姫（天璋院）は、江戸時代末期に第13代将軍・徳川家定の正室となった女性で、

薩摩藩・島津家の分家「今和泉家」の出身です。

政治や文化の激動の中、品格と強さを持って時代を生き抜いた篤姫の姿は、現代でも多くの人の心を打ちます。

篤姫館は、彼女の人生に触れることができる貴重な場所として期間中多くの来館者を迎え、開催期間を延長する等しました。

その後惜しまれつつ閉館をし、閉館後もその思い出は多くの方の心に残っています。

 

 

🌸 About the Atsuhime Hall

 

The Atsuhime Hall (Atsuhime-kan) was a limited-time tourist facility established in response to the popularity of the 2008 NHK Taiga drama “Atsuhime”.

It was located in two places: Ibusuki City, the birthplace of Atsuhime, and Dolphin Port in Kagoshima City.

The hall introduced the history and culture of Imaizumi, the area where Atsuhime was born, while also showcasing her dramatic life story and personality through interactive exhibits and visual displays.

Visitors could explore items related to Atsuhime, costumes from the drama, behind-the-scenes filming photos, and historical panels about the Shimazu family and the Ibusuki region.

One of the most popular attractions was the costume experience corner, where guests could try on authentic kimono used in the actual filming of the series and take commemorative photos.

This allowed visitors to feel as if they had stepped into the world of Atsuhime, and the corner was always bustling with people.

Even the drama’s cast visited Kagoshima during the event period, creating a huge buzz. The entire area was filled with excitement and a festive “Atsuhime” atmosphere, warmly embraced by both locals and tourists from across Japan.

 

💠 Who was Atsuhime?

 

Atsuhime (later known as Tenshōin) was the lawful wife of Tokugawa Iesada, the 13th shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, during the late Edo period.

She was born into the Imaizumi branch of the Shimazu clan in the Satsuma Domain (modern-day Kagoshima).

Amid political upheaval and cultural transformation, she lived with grace, resilience, and dignity, leaving a legacy that still inspires people today.

The Atsuhime Hall welcomed thousands of visitors during its operation as a rare opportunity to connect with her life and spirit, and its popularity even led to extended opening periods.

Although it was eventually closed, the memories of the hall remain deeply cherished by many.
