🕯 一年を彩る、想いのこもった絵蝋燭

～故人様のために、花と灯りで寄り添う～

 

こんにちは、らっそくやのicoです。

 

今回のお客様は、故人様が一年を通してお花を楽しめるようにと、式でお使いになる12本の絵蝋燭をご依頼くださいました。

左から順に、1月〜12月を代表するお花として、

水仙・梅・牡丹・桜・藤・ゆり・ひまわり・蓮・クレマチス・コスモス・紅葉・椿を描いています。

絵の描かれた和蝋燭は、もともと冬に生花が手に入りにくい時期に、花の代わりとして供えられていたという背景があります。

今では一年中お花を手に入れられる時代になりましたが、

特に夏の猛暑でお花が枯れやすい時期などに、長く美しさを保てる絵蝋燭としてご紹介しています。

 

🌿 故人様の“らしさ”を絵柄で表現するということ

 

この12ヶ月の花に加え、より個人の想いや好みに寄り添ったテーマで12本の蝋燭を構成される方もいらっしゃいます。

 

🌼 たとえば、野の花だけを選ばれた方もいらっしゃいました。

自然を愛し、庭や野山を歩くのが日課だった故人様にふさわしく、

れんげ草・ナズナ・タンポポ・露草など、素朴でやさしい道ばたの花々を中心に描きました。

その蝋燭は、飾らない人柄と自然体の美しさを灯す、特別な存在となりました。

 

🌿 また別の方は、薬草だけで構成した絵蝋燭をご希望でした。

その方は植物療法に関心があり、

ヨモギ・ドクダミ・シソ・カキドオシなど、古来より使われてきた薬草を選んで描きました。

単なる「飾り」ではなく、植物が持つ意味や力に敬意を込めた表現です。

🕯 Custom Painted Warōsoku: A Candle for Every Season and Story

 

This recent order came from a customer wishing to honor their loved one with a set of twelve hand-painted candles, one for each month of the year.

 

Hello, this is Ico from Rassokuya.

The selected flowers were:

Narcissus, Plum Blossom, Peony, Cherry Blossom, Wisteria, Lily, Sunflower, Lotus, Clematis, Cosmos, Autumn Leaves, and Camellia.

Historically, warōsoku (traditional Japanese candles) with floral designs were often used in place of real flowers during the winter months when fresh blooms were hard to come by.

Even today, when flowers are available year-round, painted candles are especially helpful in summer, when heat can quickly wilt fresh arrangements.

 

🌼 Personal Themes: Honoring What They Loved

 

In addition to the seasonal flower sets, some families choose to create more personalized themes that reflect the unique personality or passions of their loved one.

🌿 Wildflowers:

One customer requested only wildflowers, as their loved one enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a deep connection with nature.

We included humble blooms like lotus, shepherd’s purse, dandelion, and dayflower—flowers that grow quietly along the roadside.

The result was a gentle and heartfelt tribute full of natural beauty and grace.

🌿 Medicinal Herbs:

Another family requested a set of candles painted with traditional Japanese medicinal herbs, such as mugwort, houttuynia, glechoma, and perilla.

This theme reflected their loved one’s interest in plant healing and folk remedies, offering not just visual beauty, but a quiet reverence for the wisdom of nature.
